Programs and services

At The H.U.B. @ Solace House, every program begins with the same belief: every life is defined by the person living it. We do not serve people — we walk alongside them, building the conditions for autonomy while our residents build the rest. Our integrated continuum of residential, therapeutic, vocational, and case management services is designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ages 18 to 27, who are ready to grow, work, and belong. Each program is person-driven, trauma-informed, and therapeutically grounded — woven together so that no resident ever navigates their future alone.

Residential Services

Home is where healing begins — and at The H.U.B., home is designed for exactly that.

Solace House is not a group home. It is a thoughtfully designed therapeutic setting where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have access to safe, affordable housing and the consistent, skilled support that makes genuine growth possible. As a Tier II Kansas HCBS residential facility, we are fully compliant with the HCBS Settings Rule — which means our environment is home-like, non-institutional, and built around the rights, preferences, and rhythms of the people who live here.

Each resident has a private, ADA-accessible living space that belongs to them. Our 24-hour on-site staff complete an intensive trauma training curriculum before their first day, because the people we walk alongside deserve staff who understand the full complexity of the lives they have lived. Community building is woven into everyday life: residents develop the social skills, confidence, and interpersonal foundations they will carry with them long after they leave. The property itself is a resource — on-site gardens, an orchard, and a greenhouse invite residents to ground themselves in nature, a research-backed coping strategy woven intentionally into daily routines. Healing happens here — by design.

Day Services

The best day is the one you design for yourself.

Our Day Habilitation program begins not with a staff-designed schedule, but with a question: What do you want today to look like? Every resident directs, controls, and shapes their own daily programming — choosing the activities, sequences, and goals that are meaningful to them. This is what person-driven looks like in practice.

Day programming at The H.U.B. is rich and purposeful. Residents build essential life skills — from healthy cooking and nutrition to money management, customer service, and sales — through hands-on, real-world experiences. Farm-to-market enterprise skills connect residents to the full cycle of meaningful work: growing, harvesting, preparing, and selling. Outdoor and nature-based programming provides daily opportunities for grounding, reflection, and joy. Community outings and integration activities extend the program into Olathe and the greater Kansas City region, helping residents strengthen the social skills needed for full community participation. Aligned with KDADS Day Habilitation waiver services, our day program is outcomes-focused at its core — but the outcomes that matter most are the ones each resident defines for themselves.

“Healthy eating. Nature as medicine. Sales, money management, customer service, and farm-to-market skills. At The H.U.B., we teach residents to build a life — and when the world gets heavy, to find their way back to themselves through the healing power of nature. Always moving toward greater independence. Always on their terms and their time frame.”
